The final movie that we watched for this unit was my favorite. Memento was really interesting and it was probably one of the only movies that we have watched so far that made me excited to come to class and watch more the following day. It was funny but also kept me on the edge of my seat. The only thing I was confused about with this movie was if Teddy was the man who killed Leonard's wife, or if he was actually telling the truth about being a cop. I kinda think that maybe he did kill her, because he's really shady and he knows that Lenny forgets things, so maybe he just told him a bunch of lies to make him look innocent. But then again, Lenny could actually have made all of those things up to keep him sane and to feel better about avenging his wife. I guess that is the only thing that bothered me about the movie.
Overall, I liked this unit and learned a lot about this type of film. I liked how they were mysteries but really didn't like how most of them were extremely cheesy.

I totally agree when you said that you went into this unit with a negative additude. I did too just because they aren't your normal everyday kind of movie and like Mr. Klobs said they don't really exist any more so whats the point. But once we got to watching them I really liked them and I think I might have found a knew kind of films to watch. I never thought I would take so much out of this class. For instance the other day I was watching an independent and I realized how bad the filming was but it was because the director was kind of new at it. I kind of have a feeling thats how all our final projects will end up looking like.
Lia!
Coming into a genre with a negative attitude can't easily taint films unnecessarily.
However, in this case, I can agree that Kiss Me Deadly was totally over the top in some places. Can you believe that last scene? Like, really? A freakin nuclear bomb is their explanation. If you ask me, that's a cop out!
i agree with you about the film noirs being cheesy, but mysterious! i disnt really like the film noirs very much. It hurt my brain to try and understand Momento because it was backwards the entire movie. But once i understood it, i realized how amazing the director must have been to make such a movie! see you later.
